Day twenty two: The Bunker

Most Aucklanders like to think that they have a fairly good handle on the top live music venues in our city. But how many of you have heard of The Bunker on the slopes of Mt Victoria in Devonport?

The Bunker has been the home of the Devonport Folk Music Club since 1969 when Sean Sinnott played the first ever gig here. The club meets every Monday evening at 8pm, hosting an array of local and international singers and musicians. The venue is a real step back in time; clearly not much has changed since 1969 and the surrounds are reminiscent of an Irish rural country pub. For a few bucks on the door including complimentary tea and coffee, The Bunker is definitely worth further investigation.
