Day twenty five: Galbraiths Alehouse

Every now and again you find an establishment that reminds you of your travels. On our visit to Galbraiths Alehouse over the weekend I was instantly transported back to the UK to one of the numerous English rural pubs that dot the countryside.

Galbraiths is located at the Symonds St end of Mt Eden Road and is housed in the old Grafton Library. Beer is king and the Galbraiths range of eight beers is all brewed on site, from Grafton Porter through to Resurrection Trappist Ale an. That is only the tip of the iceberg though, with guest beers making an appearance on the taps (I thoroughly recommend Yeastie Boys Pot Kettle Black), and Auckland’s best selection of local and international bottled beer.

Outdoor seating provides the ideal setting for a couple of quiet beers and some hearty fare through the summer months.
