Day twenty eight: Matakana Farmers Market

The Saturday Market in Matakana is one of the longer standing farmers markets in the Auckland region. On our recent visit we were curious to see if things had changed over the years, but were pleased to find that the market is still home to an impressive array of fresh fruit and veges, cold meats, fine wines, chocolate, cheese, olive oil and importantly, a good strong cup of coffee. Our picks were the Lothlorien feijoa wine for sale and the huge Swiss style mallowpuffs from the bakery stall. What better place to stop and stock up on supplies before heading to one of the local beaches for a picnic.
