Day forty three: Kitekite Falls

Here is a great little day trip from Auckland to make the most of the fading warm weather. Jump in the car and head for Piha. On route be sure to stop at the viewpoint high above Piha beach for spectacular views of the pounding surf and the magnificent Lion Rock. From there you can descend on Piha Road heading for Glen Esk Road to the carpark at the end of the Glen Esk where the Kitekite track begins. The track is an easily achievable walk covering a distance of 1.8k and takes between 45 minutes to an hour. At the end of the track you’ll be rewarded by the beautiful Kitekite falls and an icy swim.
