Day sixty two: Karangahake Gorge

We thought it was about time to feature a road trip. Karangahake Gorge is a 90-minute drive south of Auckland, starting once you pass the oversized L & P bottle in Paeroa. The gorge itself has to be one of the most scenic stretches of state highway in the country. The area is rich in gold mining history and riddled with hiking trails from a thirty-minute jaunt to more strenuos multi day options. Our tip would be to pack a torch and head through the disused railway tunnel.
