Rugby World Cup opening night may be one of the largest celebrations New Zealand has ever seen. The festivities begin at 4pm, 9 September with the arrival of 20 waka into Viaduct Harbour. Dave Dobbyn will hit the main stage on Queens Wharf around 4:40pm, followed by a Mayoral welcome and haka and the Finn brothers headlining the proceedings at 6pm. The opening ceremony from Eden Park will be beamed live onto big screens before the largest fireworks display ever seen in New Zealand lights up the Auckland night. Dane Rumble, Midnight Youth and others round off the night ensuring the party goes well into the wee hours.
