Day one hundred and forty six: Wild Wheat

logoWe have visited many a bakery across Auckland, as pies, pastries and loaves of bread are consumed in our household on a regular basis. One of the best in our fine city just happens to be in our neighborhood. Located on Mt Eden road, Wild Wheat is a decorated bakery, having taken out Metro magazines best bakery award on seven occasions. We can clearly see why -the bread is exceptional. Sourdough loaves are the specialty, with the signature loaf being the kumara sourdough which was a winner in the 2012 NZ Food Awards. We also can’t resist the apple and custard doughnuts for a bit of indulgence.
