Day one hundred and fifty four: Okura Bush Walkway

dacre-cottage-okura-walkway-223One of the things we love about living in Auckland is the network of walking trails right on our doorstep, Waitakere Ranges, Hunua Ranges etc. Another worthy inclusion to this list is the Okura Walkway, which runs from the Okura Estuary through to Stillwater. The track does undulated so don’t expect a nice easy stroll, however the first section from the estuary to the historic Dacre Cottage is very well maintained. The scenery is classic New Zealand coastline bush with spectacular sea views. The distance from Okura Estuary to Dacre Cottage is 4.8 k, about 1 and a half hours or it is a 8k trip to Stillwater which can be done in 3 hours. The start of the track is located on Haighs Access Rd.
