Day one hundred and sixty three: A big weekend of events in Auckland

Chinese Celebrate The Lantern FestivalThis weekend will see three huge events take place in Auckland. It is shaping up to be Aucklands biggest weekend since the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The Chinese Lantern Festival gets things underway this Friday evening with food, entertainment and of course stunning lanterns no doubt drawing thousands of people to Albert Park and Queens Wharf.

Around 100,000 people will then pack out Eden Park on Saturday and Sunday for the inaugural Auckland Rugby League Nines. The tournament will bring together each NRL team in a short version of the ever popular winter sport.

Coinciding with these two events is the first ever visit of rap superstar Eminem for a concert at Western Springs. Not surprisingly this gig sold out months ago.
